Juan Perez

Born in Havana, Cuba, drummer/percussionist Juan Perez immigrated to Florida with his family in the early sixties.  Having grown up around music, his mother played and taught piano, he soon found himself playing drums in small combos for school dances and teen rooms.

Juan spent most of the seventies touring with legendary Florida rock bands Fat Chance and The Snooks.  Alternating between drums and percussion, he earned a reputation as a solid groove-oriented drummer.  By 1980 he was recruited by the Bellamy Brothers who had scored a huge hit with "Let Your Love Flow" a few years before.  Juan toured internationally with the brothers for the next three and a half years.  During that time he appeared on many televised performances including Austin City Limits and played on three very successful Bellamy Brothers albums for both Warner Brothers and Elektra record labels.  These albums were "When We Were Boys," "Strong Weakness" and "Reckless."  Two of these albums were produced by one of the most respected producers in the industry, Jimmy Bowen.

Though the road stint ended in 1984, Juan continued to record for the Bellamy Brothers, eventually appearing on more than fifteen of their albums which produced at least five number one country hits and many more top-20 Billboard singles.

In the late eighties he began working with King Snake Records and studio owner Bob Greenlee, who also played bass for The Midnight Creepers.  Juan started doing sessions at King Snake and played live or recorded with quite a few King Snake artists:  Noble Watts, Lester Chambers, Rootboy Slim, Alex Taylor and Sonny Rhodes, to name a few.

There are many more accomplishments that could be listed here; but for right now, let's just say that Juan is excited about this project and being reunited with the King Snake Allstars to "rock" the Blues!
